About the Future
Future Technology Trends is a website that focuses on potentially disruptive technologies but also has an appreciation for voices of the skeptics. This site comes with a mix of highly speculative scenarios along with hardheaded realism about the possibility of vaporware. “What happened to the future?” you might ask. It seems like “the future” is often a wish fulfillment projection of present desires. It is an eternally receding mirage that never actually materializes. Many things like flying cars and superabundance seem to be more fiction than fact.
One can still be optimistic, though. To quote William Gibson, “The future is here. It’s just not widely distributed yet.” Everyday, there are novel scientific breakthroughs. Often, many of these never seem to translate well to real world applications. There are economic, cultural or other factors as to why certain technology is not dispersed. Human intelligence has done a pretty good job of mapping out theoretical limits and approaching them. Greater intelligences are not going to be able to circumvent the laws of physics. However, smarter AIs can change the world significantly, just by swiftly deploying stuff that is already in the pipeline.
Future Technology Trends is dedicated to discussing a variety of outcomes, some plausible and some unlikely. A few main topics include neuromorphic hardware, new neurotechnologies and fresh computing architectures.
